Hello, and thank you for visiting my website.
I was born in Florida, raised in Louisiana, and first came to Austin for graduate school. Like so many others who come here temporarily, I decided to stay – Austin is great! I am proud to hold a Masters’ Degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas. I’d like to tell you a little bit about my approach as well as my experience. I hope that this information helps you to make an informed decision in choosing a therapist. If you have questions or would like further information, please do not hesitate to call or email me.
My Approach
My coaching and therapy is marked by gentleness. I am committed to following my clients’ lead – I’ve seen it work, time and time again. I have years of training and experience with proven therapeutic models, so I know how to help you find the pathways that will work for your family. And quite simply, I love my work. It is an honor to be allowed into the private spaces of a family’s life, and a great joy to see positive change. I love the unique challenge that each person presents, and I feel energized and excited every time a family tells me that things are getting better as a result of the work we’re doing together.
My work is best suited to families who:
- Are motivated and ready to make change
- Are able to communicate with me about what is or is not working in our time together
- Are committed to the process, attend regularly, participate fully and do suggested homework/readings
- Recognize the value of investing in their family’s well being
My Professional Experience
My career has focused on working with children, adolescents and their families. I have worked with leading local agencies in schools, private settings and incarcerated or mandated residential programs. My experience has encompassed various problem areas and diagnoses – including family communication issues, limit-setting with teens, oppositional/defiant behaviors, depression, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, adolescent substance abuse, divorce, custody problems, self-esteem, social skills, coping skills, sexual abuse, sexual acting out, normal sexual development and other developmental issues.
As an LCSW, I am proud to uphold a high standard of ethics, professionalism and continuing education. To learn more about these standards, follow these links for Scope of Practice information or our Code of Conduct.
